100 Free Facebook Credits Sounds Good, But A Compromised Account Doesn't.

Share

Someone reported a link to me through my Scam report form. They did not give any other details just the link. So, I do not know what the exact delivery method for this particular FB Credits / Phishing scam is. If anyone has more details, please forward them to me at my contact email, which is available on the About Me page of this blog.

After Clicking the link sent to me, I was transferred to a facebook application page which appears to Offer 100 Free Facebook Credits to it's visitors. See example..

Example (100 Free Facebook Credits offer App Drop Page )- Click to Enlarge

This app appears to show users an error message up at the top of the page which states: "Can't retrieve your Account". Right below the error it presents them with a "Facebook Login" button. The strange thing here is that the user is already logged into facebook. The error is not from facebook and is fake. If the user doesn't pay attention to this very fact and clicks the login button, they are then asked to hand over their login information via a pop up prompt which states they will receive 100 free facebook credits for doing so.... See example..

Example (100 Free Facebook Credits offer Phishing Prompt )Click to Enlarge

In my opinion this might fool quite a few people. The creator of this Phishing Scam even went through the trouble of putting a working comments box on the main screen and the "Forgot Your Password" link into the fake login prompt. The comments in the comments box are more then likely made by the scam artist himself, but may fool unsuspecting users..

I just want to remind everyone You will NEVER receive any FREE facebook credits this way. Never give your facebook login information to ANY facebook app. This is clearly an attempt to steal users login information. Again if anyone comes across the message or messages being use to delivery this scam, please take the time to send them in.. I will add the info to this report..
